In 1998, Emily Fisher Charter School opened as a middle school with only 60 students. The school has since added a high school (grades 9-12) and enrollment currently totals over 300 students. Determined to instill a passion for learning in each of these students, Emily Fisher Charter School has made it a goal to employ faculty and staff dedicated to this vision. The "disruptive student" is sought after with great fervor as we believe that all students, despite their educational history and perceived shortcomings, deserve a quality education where people are resolved to bring out the best in their character.

Our approach to education is both "traditional and "non-traditional." Since many of our students have dismissed the notion of learning for intrinsic value and future goals, we have realized that we must teach our students lessons that can be used in everyday living as well as encourage their growth in future planning. This is achieved but not limited to the following: Interscholastic and intramural sports, an occupational preparation program, restaurant program, an extensive character education program and numerous clubs and after school activities (student government, Lady Charms Club, Brother to Brother, etc.)

Each year we reflect on the motto "make this year better than the last" by attempting to employ concrete strategies that will enhance the school's overall improvement. During this reflection, we critically review our past programs and create new programs that will further nurture our students' growth. While we recognize the many challenges we face, we believe that with the support of the students, parents, faculty, staff and community at large, our school will be a great success. We are proud to be a charter school in Trenton, NJ and we are committed to giving our students the very best we have to offer.
